The history of Van Nuys CA is one that starts with the discovery of gold in what is now Bakersfield, California. In the late 1800’s prospectors found gold in what is now Candlestick Bay, and began what is known as the Gold Rush. By the end of the century, there were many new mining sites opened in what is now Southern California, attracting people from all over the world.
